RAHUL DRAVID GIFTS HIS NO. 19 JERSEY TO ABHISHEK BACHCHAN AS ETPL MAKES ITS MARK IN EUROPEAN CRICKET
A special cricketing gesture has brought together two names with a shared passion for taking the game forward, as Rahul Dravid gifted Abhishek Bachchan his iconic No. 19 jersey, personally signed with a heartfelt message.
The jersey, presented by Dravid to Abhishek, carries the former India captain’s famous number 19 and a handwritten note that reads: “Dear Abhishek, thank you for your support to the game. Best always, Rahul Dravid.”
The gesture comes against the backdrop of the inaugural European T20 Premier League (ETPL), currently in its final stages in Dublin, bringing together international cricketing names and emerging European talent across six franchises representing Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands.
Abhishek Bachchan, who co-founded ETPL alongside Saurav Banerjee, Priyanka Kaul and Dhiraj Malhotra, is currently in Dublin as the tournament heads into its decisive phase, with the Qualifier on September 19 and the Final on September 20.
Adding further significance to ETPL’s inaugural season, the World Cricketers’ Association recently stated that “ETPL sets the benchmark,” recognising the league’s approach to establishing professional standards from the outset.
And in the middle of a landmark first season, Dravid’s gesture to Abhishek, a jersey bearing the iconic No. 19 and a deeply personal note, makes for a particularly special moment that captures the spirit of cricket beyond the boundary.
